Bryan County Family Expo

The Bryan County Family Expo is being held Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

The event will be held at the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

This is a family fun day free to all with informational and activities booths for children.

Angels Foster Care Network Foster Parent Orientation

Foster Parent orientation will be held on March 3, 2015 at 6 p.m. at the Angels office located at 1400 S. Broadway in Edmond, OK. March 23, 2015- Collabroshop

Please join us Monday, March the 23rd, from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm at Watchetaker Hall within the Comanche Nation Complex located at 584 NW Bingo Road, Lawton, Oklahoma for our Collabroshop!

The goal of this Collabroshop is to better serve Native American children and families by making sure Tribal families are available for children and teens in need of out-of-home care away from their parents.

All tribal child welfare staff, public and private agency foster care staff, foster care recruiters, and foster parents are invited to this event.

Topics will include:

  • Insight into how the ICWA is impacting the foster care process
  • Learn ways to better support Tribal Children in foster care.
  • Identify all culturally appropriate resources available for children and families
  • Become familiar with culturally respectful recruitment strategies
  •  Develop skills to conduct culturally respectful homestudies and strategies to support Tribal Families through the approval process


The workshop is free to attend and lunch will be provided.

Save the Date: Oct. 15, 2015 and Dec. 15, 2015- Coming Together Summit for Autism Cares Community Cares Initiative

The Coming Together Summit for Autism Cares Community Cares Initiative will be held on October 15, 2015 and on December 17, 2015 at the Choctaw Event Center in Durant, Oklahoma.

This event will feature two Nationally Renowned speakers on autism, Dr. Temple Grandlin Ph.D., and Ms. Eustacia Cutler. Dr. Grandlin is one of the most well-known and accomplished adults with autism. Her life story has been turned into an HBO film, “Temple Grandin”. Ms. Cutler is the author of A Thorn in My Pocket and is the mother of Dr. Temple.

Ms. Eustacia Cutler will speak on October 15th and Dr. Temple Grandlin, PhD. will speak on December 17th.

Continuing Education credit hours can be earned for attending both events.

April 10-11, 2015 Empower to Connect Conference

On April 10th and 11th from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. a simulcast will be held to provide information to foster and adoptive parents, professionals and ministry leaders on how to understand and care for children who come from hard places. The information presented will be based on the Trust Based Relational Intervention approach by Dr. Karyn Purvis. The simulcast will be broadcast at the following locations:

March 14, 2015 Fundraising Event

On March 14, 2015, a painting fundraising event benefiting the Citizens Advisory Board (CAB) in Cleveland Co. will be held from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m. at Wine and Palette Studios located at 201 NW 10th Street, Ste. 120, OKC, OK 73103.

Funds raised will support teenagers in foster care through the Oklahoma Independent Living Program. OKIL educates teens on health, education, housing, employment, permanent connections, essential documents and other life skills.

February 27, 2015 Foster and Adoptive Family Regional Conference


The Foster and Adoptive Parent Regional Conference for Region IV will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the King’s House located at 124 V. Hubert Smith Drive, McAlester, OK 74501.

This event will be a day of learning, encouragement, and networking with foster and adoptive families in southeast Oklahoma. Foster parents will receive 4 training credit hours for attending this event.

Sessions during this event will include the following topics:

  • Why Foster Families Are Important
  • Taking Care of Yourself So You Can Care for Your Children
  • Partnering to Assure Positive Visitation
  • Trauma Triggers…Prevention and Management
  • Keeping Those Important Documents Organized

March 12, 2015 Resource Recruitment Fair

A Resource Recruitment Fair for Oklahoma County will be held on March 12, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the 4th floor of the Juvenile Justice Center located at 5905 N. Classen Court, OKC, OK 73118.  Resource parents are encouraged to attend and bring someone who is interested in learning more about foster care.  There will be snacks and doorprizes. On site child care will be provided.

Oklahoma County will be holding a meeting on March 2, 2015 from to provide information on becoming a foster parent. This event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to7:30 p.m. in Yukon at the Trinity Baptist Church located at 620 N. Cemetery Rd. Yukon, OK 73099. Foster parents from the church will be at the event to share their personal testimonials.
